Kameshwar Singh Darbhanga Sanskrit University
Kameshwar Singh Darbhanga Sanskrit University abbreviated as (KSDSU) is one of the very few Sanskrit universities in the country. Located at, Darbhanga, Bihar it was established in 1961 the university is dedicated to the teaching and promotion of Sanskrit language. Its jurisdiction covers the whole state of Bihar. The university offers its aspirants various courses in intermediate, graduate and post graduate levels and opportunities in research as well. The university is situated in Laxmishwar Vilas Palace, also known as Anand Bag in Darbhanga. Maharaja Kameshwar Singh had donated his ancestral Anand Bagh Palace to the government of Bihar as a university for the promotion of Sanskrit language in the state.
The university has an outstanding assortment of nearly 5562 rare manuscripts including six illustrated manuscripts of Ramayana, Gitagovinda, Srimadbhagavata and Durga Saptasati etc. Few manuscripts of Vidyapati Mahesh Thakur composed in their own scripts are among the proud possessions of the university. Postgraduate course offered by the university deals with Veda, Vyakarna, Dharma Shastra, Darshna , Jyotish, Sahitya and Ayurveda. Students can also enroll in Sidheshwari Laxminath Sanskrit College, Gajahar, Madhubani as well which is an affiliated college of KSDSU.
