About University of Delhi
The University of Delhi or Delhi University is a public central collegiate university located in the capital city Delhi. It is one of the prestigious institutions of not only Delhi but of the country renowned for its highest standards of teaching and research facilities. Established in the year 1922, the university is now a role-model and path setter for other universities in the country. Its rich academic tradition, best teaching facilities has always attracted the most talented students across the country and makes it one of the best universities in the world.
When the university was first established it had just three colleges and two faculties Arts and Science and just 750 students. But now with the passage of time it has grown into one of the largest universities in India. at present there are 16 faculties, 86 academic departments , 77 colleges and 5 recognized institutes spread all over the city with 132435 regular students which is truly a landmark for any university. There are two main campuses of the University: the North Campus & the South Campus. There are as many as 75 courses in the University running under the 3-year under graduate program structure with few exceptions like MBBS, B.Tech etc. Courses are classified under three main faculties Science, Arts and Commerce. It offers 70 post-graduate degrees and also offers M.Phil in about 28 subjects, 90+ certificates, 28 diplomas and 15 advanced diplomas offered in various languages.
The university also has campus for open learning, virtual learning and non-collegiate women’s education. The courses are offered in semester system and classes generally begin in the month of July.
