How to Prepare for JEE-Main

The Joint Entrance Examination Main (JEE-Main) was previously known as the All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE) and is, now, conducted by India’s National Testing Agency (NTA). The exam was introduced during the year 2002 and, then, was renamed in April 2017.

The JEE Main is a national-level competitive exam and part of the admission process for undergraduate architecture and engineering courses in Institutions that accept JEE Main scores. These institutes include the Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs), Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIITs), and National Institutes of Technology (NITs).

Before the year 2019, the JEE Main was conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) via 2 modes: online and paper-based. Presently, NTA holds the exam, two times per year and via online mode only.

The JEE Main aspirants have to prepare for several months before appearing for the exam. The question paper has questions on Applied Science.   • To successfully clear the exam, the aspirants should focus on increasing their speed and accuracy.
  • Developing computational skills is important for answering the questions on Mathematics. In fact, the applicants should avoid making errors because, under the negative marking system, 1 mark is deducted if the answer is incorrect.
  • Be thorough with the basic concepts before moving to the advanced ones. Remember only if your subject fundamentals are strong, you can excel in exams.
  • Make sure to get a good grasp of the subject concepts. This helps to apply them to finding solutions to the given problems.
  • Set up a detailed plan of study while taking into account your strengths and weaknesses.
  • Avoid jumping steps to solving problems because it can lead to incorrect answers. Instead, apply only the subject fundamentals while answering the questions.
  • Always rely only on reliable sources to search for answers if you are stuck at problems.
  • Improve your focus as it helps to arrive at the correct answer.
  • Take breaks at regular intervals during studying.
  • Draft flashcards and short notes because you can study them quickly for revising the formulas during the last phase of preparation.
  • Solve JEE Main sample papers to become familiar with various aspects of the question paper. Also, you get to know the questions that are difficult, moderate or easy to answer and can, then, can plan your study schedule to improve on your weak areas.
  • Take regular mock tests, following which you should analyze your performance. Then, you can improvise on the same.
  • Practice measures to improve memory. All the same, you should eat a nutritious diet and remain hydrated by sipping enough water through the day.
