How to Prepare for RBI

To recruit employees in India’s central banking institution that is the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), the Reserve Bank of India Selection Board (RBISB) holds an entrance exam. For filling various positions in the RBI –including Grade A and Grade B officers – the RBISB conducts written exams and the subsequent personal interviews.

The RBI exam has 3 phases; Prelims, Mains, and Personal Interview.

The Preliminary exam contains sections including Quantitative Aptitude, English Language, Reasoning, and General Awareness.

The Mains exam has sections including Finance & Management, Economic & Social Issues, and English.

For the Personal Interview, the candidate’s personality is evaluated.

RBI Exams: Preparation Tips

  • As mentioned earlier, the exam is conducted in 3 stages. On their part, the candidates must prepare for all sections.
  • Prepare your study time table. Here, make sure to cover all topics thoroughly and devote sufficient time for each topic.
  • Learn about the exam pattern. For the same, you can refer to past years’ question papers. Also, visit the RBI website to remain updated on the latest changes in the examination pattern.
  • Ensure to read newspapers, different types of articles, and magazines. Doing so is important to improve your English vocabulary and perform well in the Prelims’ English Language and General Awareness sections.
  • For the Prelims’ Reasoning and Quantitative Aptitude sections, you must practice solving related questions.
  • To prepare for the Mains examination, you must indulge in extensive study from recommended study material.
  • Join a coaching institute to avail a competitive environment and guidance by experts. Moreover, they give the students sufficient practice and have a structured way of teaching.
  • After completing the entire syllabus, take regular mock tests. Subsequently, you must assess your performance to identify your weak areas. Then, you can take steps to improve upon them via regular study and practice.
  • Honing your time management skills is an important part of your preparation too. Try to answer the questions in the given time limit to manage your time during the exam. Also, you can answer maximum questions if you stick to the time limit for each question.
