About Meghalaya Polytechnic
Technical Education is the key in the socio-economic growth of a country. Technical training helps in fulfilling the demands of providing the skilled manpower to various industries and other organizations. To understand this need of today’s scenario, Department of Technical Education in the state of Meghalaya has opened various industrial training institutes and polytechnics. At present the state has three polytechnics in three different districts of the state offering 3 year diploma and 2 year post diploma courses to the aspirants. All the courses offered by the polytechnics are approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and are affiliated to Meghalaya State Council for Technical Education.
The Meghalaya State Council for Technical Education look after various aspects of technical education in the state like curriculum, syllabus, examinations, staff development programs etc. All the three polytechnics of the state are now ISO 9001:2000 certified for their quality management standards. Students can enroll for various technical and non-technical courses such as Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Hotel Management & Catering Technology, Printing Technology, Agricultural Engineering etc.
For taking admission to various courses offered by these polytechnics students need to clear an entrance examination and admission is purely based on the merit list.
