Nagaland University is the 13th and only Central University in the North-Eastern State of Nagaland. This Central University was established by the Government of India in the year 1989 at Lumami in the District of Zunheboto as the University’s headquarter. However, there are three more campuses at Kohima, Medziphema and Dimapur. Since this is regarded as one of among India’s premium Central University, it is recognized under the act of University Grants Commission (UGC). The University offers quality higher education to over 24000 students both in campus and its 65 affiliated colleges all over Nagaland which are currently affiliated under the Nagaland University.

The University has also made a drastic development in terms of its infrastructures like good construction and renovation of academic buildings, library, hostels, sports complex, water supply and electricity. Apart from this, the University also conducts state, regional and national level seminars and workshops which make learning more interesting for the students. Around 48 externally research projects were handled by the faculty members of Nagaland University with gross expenditure of 13.72 crores approximately during the year.
