NIELIT A Level Admission, Course, Grade, Exam Result

The National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT), which comes under the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology of the Government of India, supervises the second level IT Professional course which is the ‘A’ level one, coming after ‘O’ level.

The NIELIT was previously referred to as the Department of Electronics Accreditation of Computer Courses (DOEACC) and was developed as a result of DIT and AICTE partnership and started functioning during the year 1990.

The NIELIT ‘A’ level program is considered to be equivalent to the Advanced Diploma in Computer Applications. To acquire this qualification, the candidates must complete the course and pass the exam that the NIELET holds.

The Government of India recognizes this program and the course students are, also, eligible to apply for IT jobs with the Central Government after passing the course.

The course is scheduled to start during the months of January and July each year. Upon successful completion of the ‘A’ level course, the candidates can enrol for the ‘B’ level program that NIELET conducts.

NIELIT ‘A’ Level Course: Eligibility Criteria

The candidates who have passed the NIELIT ‘O’ level scheme are eligible to apply for the ‘A’ level scheme. Also, any applicant who has a graduate degree can apply. More so, if the aspirant has secured a Polytechnic engineering diploma after classes 10th or 12th is invited to apply.

NIELIT ‘A’ Level Course: Duration

The NIELIT ‘A’ level program has a 1-year duration for ‘O’ level qualifiers. For direct entry candidates, the course extends to 1.5 years.

NIELIT ‘A’ Level Course: Details

The ‘A’ level course incorporates 10 theory modules and one project. The theory modules consist of 9 compulsory ones and 1 elective one.

Further, the course has 4 semesters and includes project work as well.

Project work is an integral part of the course curriculum to qualify the course.

The project carries 100 marks and requires 350 man hours and begins after completion of the 2nd semester. Out of the total 100 marks for project work, 80% are for evaluation and the remaining 20% for viva voce.

The pupils have to execute the project under the supervision of assigned faculty members.

After completing the project work and clearing 5 theory papers, the students have to submit their project report along with the stipulated fee.

NIELIT ‘A’ Level Course: Registration Process

The candidates must register for the January intake for the NIELIT ‘A’ level program between July and September. For the July intake, they should register through January and March.

They have to register on the official website. On the site, they have to click on the ‘Apply Online’ option and select the ‘A’ level program from the ‘Information Technology’ section.

Subsequently, they should download the Online Examination Application Form and fill in the required particulars. These include contact details (like email address and phone number), personal info and educational qualifications.

Additionally, they have to scan certain documents and follow by uploading the scanned copies on the site. These include a recent photograph, signature specimen, and left thumb impression.

Subsequently, they can view their Unique Application Number on the screen. For reference purposes, they should have a copy of their Application Form.

More so, paying the Application Fee is the norm. The different modes of payment that are acceptable include Debit/Credit cards and Online Banking.

Thereafter, they get their login details on the given contact number and email address. The following step is to sign into their accounts with the login credentials after clicking on the tab ‘New User? (Registered Candidates)’. Upon signing in, they must check the ‘My Dashboard’ page and study the given instructions. Also, they should update their profile.

The next step is to click on the ‘Lock Profile’ tab. Furthermore, they have to select the checkbox that is seen on the Declaration Page. Finally, they must review their applications and make any necessary changes (if required) and follow by selecting the ‘Final Submit’ option.

NIELIT ‘A’ Level Course: Examination

Theory Exam

The ‘A’ level theory exam is held two times a year, during January and July. The pupils can choose their exam center among the available choices when filling the exam form.

Each of the 10 theory exams (one for each of the 10 modules) contains 100 marks and lasts for 3 hours.

Practical Exam

For the NIELIT ‘A’ level exam, the aspirants have to appear for 2 practical examinations (PR-1 and PR-2) that last for 3 hours each.

NIELIT ‘A’ Level Course: Admit Card

The Admit Cards become accessible via the official website after they are uploaded by the NIELIT authorities. To access the Admit Cards, the applicants have to select the ‘Download Admit Card’ option that is viewable on the home page of the official website.

Next, they should select the ‘A’ level tab from the ‘Information Technology’ section. The subsequent step is to enter basic info and follow by downloading the Admit Card. The Admit Cards are a mandatory requirement at the exam hall. Thus, the candidates should ensure to carry their cards to the exam hall. Here, the authorities check the Admit Cards as part of the candidate verification process.

NIELIT ‘A’ Level Course: Exam Result

To view their exam results, the students should browse the official website. After 2 or 2.5 months from the exam date, the exam results are posted on the site by the NIELIT examiners.

Note that the marks the candidate scores in the project and practical exam are not considered to calculate their grades. However, they should successfully clear the project work and project for receiving the pass certificate.

The students can check their exam results online via the official website. For the same, they must select the ‘View Result’ tab and select the ‘A’ level course that features under the ‘Information Technology’ section. The next step is to click on the ‘Submit’ tab, after which they are directed to a page where they have to enter details such as exam name, date of birth, and registration number, among others. Subsequently, they must select the ‘View’ option for the system to display the results. They must, also, take a print copy of their exam results.

NIELIT ‘A’ Level Course: Grading System

The grading system of NIELIT courses is as follows:

‘F’ grade (Failed): lower than 50%

‘D’ grade: between 50-54%

‘C’ grade: between 55-64%

‘B’ grade: between 65-74%

‘A’ grade: between 75-84%:

‘S’ grade: 85% and above

NIELIT ‘A’ Level Course: Certificate Download

After qualifying for the exam for the ‘A’ level, the successful candidates are given certificates; these are downloadable from the official website. Only they have to click on the ‘Download Certificate’ option and provide the mandatory information for accessing their certificates.

They can access their certificates via Adobe Reader or Internet Explorer. Also, they should follow the instructions on the website for validating their certificates.

NIELIT ‘A’ Level Course: Job Opportunities

A range of employment opportunities are available for students upon passing the ‘A’ level course. These include Teaching Assistant, Assistant Database Manager, and Programmer, among others.
