The National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT) is the supervising body of the third level ‘B’ level IT Professional program, following the ‘A’ level course. The NIELIT was created by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). Also, the body functions under the Department of Information Technology of the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology of the Government of India.
The NIELIT offers the ‘B’ level IT certification program in Computer Applications that is considered equivalent to the Masters in Computer Applications (MCA) degree course. More so, the course duration is 2 years for ‘A’ level diploma holders; and for other graduates, 3 years. The NIELIT ‘B’ level program is, also, recognized by the Government of India.
The candidates who want to pursue the’ B’ level certification course have to attend the program and pass the examinations that the NIELIT holds.
This program provides learning on managing software projects and gives the students a solid background in IT business, computing, and mathematics. Also, the pupils gain knowledge of software packages, compilers, and programming languages.
NIELIT ‘B’ Level Course: Eligibility Criteria
Only candidates who are eligible are invited to apply for the NIELIT ‘B’ level certification program.
As per the eligibility criteria of the program, the candidates are required to complete the NIELIT ‘A’ level diploma program. Also, the applicants who hold graduate degrees with at least 50% marks, or have done the Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Applications, or secured a Polytechnic engineering diploma, are considered eligible to apply. Further, no work experience is required for candidates who have secured the ‘A’ level certification via an Institute. However, direct applicants who have completed the ‘A’ level program should gain 2 years of relevant work experience; and other graduates, 3 years.
NIELIT ‘B’ Level Course: Details
As part of the NIELIT ‘B’ Level certification program, the students have 25 theory modules, out of which 22 are compulsory and 3 are electives. Also, the course includes four practicals and three projects. Through the projects, the pupils can apply their knowledge and skills of the theoretical knowledge of the course subjects.
NIELIT ‘B’ Level Course: Exam Pattern
The theory exams for each of the ‘B’ level course modules last for three hours, with the question paper of each subject carrying a total of 100 marks. Also, the four practical exams run for 3 hours and each exam carries 100 marks. Completing project work is mandatory to pass the course too.
To pass the program, the students should secure minimum 50% in each theory and practical exam.
NIELIT ‘B’ Level Course: Registration Process
The NIELIT authorities invite applications for the ‘B’ level course for January and July intake. For admission in the January intake, the candidates must apply between the months of July and September. Additionally, they should register between January and March for the July intake.
The first step in the registration process of the NIELIT ‘B’ level certification course entails visiting the official website for registrations. On the home page of the site, they must select the ‘Apply Online’, following which they should select the ‘B’ Level tab under the ‘Information Technology’ listing.
Subsequently, they should furnish other mandatory details like personal ones, contact info and educational background in the Online Registration Application Form.
More so, they have to upload scanned copies of the required documents. These include signature specimen, a passport-sized photo, and left thumb impression.
Besides, they should pay the Application Fee via the different modes of payment such as Online Banking and Debit/Credit cards.
Upon submission of their applications, they are directed to the Application Form that contains details such as Unique Application Number. And they must make sure to have a print copy of the Application Form.
Then, they receive their login credentials on their mobile number and email address. The subsequent step is to visit the site and sign in with their login details after clicking on ‘New User? (Registered Candidates)’. Here, they must browse the ‘My Dashboard’ page and read the given instructions. Next, they should update their profile.
After they update their profile, they must select the ‘Lock Profile’ tab. Thereafter, on the Declaration Page, they have to select the checkbox. The final step is to review their applications for making any required changes and, then, click on the ‘Final Submit’ tab.
NIELIT ‘B’ Level Course: Admit Card
Here are the steps to download Admit Card that the NIELIT authorities release after processing the candidates’ applications. The applicants should mandatorily carry their Admit Cards to the exam hall so the authorities can verify their identity.

- Select the ‘Download Admit Card’ tab and from the subsequent page, the ‘B’ level course from the ‘Information Technology’ listing.
- Enter the details as seen on the screen and, thereafter, click on the ‘Submit’ tab

NIELIT ‘B’ Level Course: Exam Result
After the NIELIT examiners declare the exam results, the students can check their results online by visiting the official site. Here, they have to click on the ‘View Result’ option and follow by selecting the ‘B’ level course that is seen under the ‘Information Technology’ section.
Subsequently, they should select the ‘Submit’ tab, following which the system is directed to a page where they are required to furnish basic information such as Candidate’s name, roll number, and date of birth. Thereafter, they have to click on the ‘View’ tab for viewing their results. They must, also, maintain a print copy of their examination results for their records.
NIELIT ‘B’ Level Course: Gradation Structure
The NIELIT examining authorities announce the candidates’ results in the form of grades. The successful candidates are awarded certificates that are equivalent to MCA. With the certificates, they can apply for employment opportunities under the Central Government of India, among other IT jobs with companies.

‘F’ Grade: less than 50%
‘D’ Grade: in the range of 50%-54%
‘C’ Grade: in the range of 55%-64%

NIELIT ‘B’ Level Course: Certificate Download
Only the candidates who successfully pass the ‘B’ level course certificates are eligible for certificates. To get their certificates, they should go to the home page of the official website and select the option ‘Download Certificate’. The next step is to input the details as required in the Application Form. After providing the necessary information, download the certificate through Adobe Reader or Internet Explorer. Furthermore, follow the guidelines for validating signature as seen on the site.
NIELIT ‘B’ Level Course: Career Opportunities
