NIELIT O Level Exam Result Declared on student.nielit.gov.in

The ‘O’ Level course is conducted by the National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT) which works under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology of the Government of India. The NIELIT was previously known as the Department of Electronics Accreditation of Computer Courses (DOEACC) that started operations in the year 1990, as part of a joint partnership between AICTE and DIT. The aspirants can apply for the NIELIT ‘O’ level program via the official website, http://student.nielit.in/Index.aspx. Also, they can refer to the site, www.nielit.gov.in/content/examination, to know more about the NIELIT courses.

The NIELIT ‘O’ level program is a Foundation Course in Computer Applications. Moreover, the program runs for 1 year, having 2 semesters that last for 6 months each. The candidates who successfully complete the course receive Diplomas; these are equivalent to the 3-year Polytechnic Diplomas in Computer Science and Engineering.

Every year, the ‘O’ Level course starts in January and July. Notifications regarding the application dates, and other course details, are published in the local daily newspapers of the stipulated states.

Also, after completing the ‘O’ level course, the applicants can pursue NIELIT’s ‘A’ Level course that is equivalent to an Advanced Diploma program in Computer Application.

NIELIT ‘O’ Level Course: Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for NIELIT’s ‘O’ Level course, the applicants should pass their 10th standard exams or complete any minimum 1-year ITI Certificate course after passing 10th class exams.

NIELIT ‘O’ Level Course: Course Objective

The ‘O’ level course imparts knowledge and skills in the field of Information Technology (such as Multimedia, C-Programming, and Information & Communications Technology) to the students. As such, they are prepared to pass the course exam.

NIELIT ‘O’ Level Course: Recognition

The NIELIT ‘O’ level exam has recognition from the Government of India. The course is considered equivalent to the Foundation Course in Information Technology. The students can, also, apply for IT jobs that come under the purview of the Central Government after they pass the course examination.

NIELIT ‘O’ Level Course: Registration and Application Process

The candidates who satisfy the given eligibility criteria of the ‘O’ level course have two options. First, they can pursue the course directly; second, they can enrol at any government-recognized Institute.

If they join an Institute, then the Institute updates them on all the information related to the ‘O’ level program. Also, they have to pay the fees of the Institute and attend the classes as per the schedule. Further, they must join the Institute before January or July.

On the other hand, if the candidate is unable to attend the Institute sessions, they can apply directly and opt to self-study. More so, they must manage registering and applying for the exams on their own.

For the January intake, the applicants have to register between the months of July to September. For July intake, they should register between January and March.

To apply for the ‘O’ level course, the candidates should register online and update their profile. Only then, they can apply online by filling out the Online Examination Application Form (OEAF).

To register for the NIELIT ‘O’ level course, the applicant should visit the official website and click on the ‘Apply Online’ tab on the right-hand side. Here, they have to click on the ‘New User. The registered Candidate link is located towards the right-hand side of the page.

Then, the system displays a list of courses, and they must select the ‘O’ Level course. Also, they must select whether they are applying directly or via the Institute. More so, they have to enter certain personal, contact and educational qualification details. Information such as email addresses and contact numbers have to be provided for communication purposes.

Next, they receive their login credentials on the given email addresses and mobile numbers. Then, they should sign into their respective accounts with their login details. They can access the ‘My Dashboard’ page which exhibits all the latest notifications after logging into their accounts.

The candidates must read and follow all the instructions on the ‘My Dashboard’ page. They have to upload scanned copies of particular documents too. These include left-hand impressions, specimen signatures, and passport-sized photos.

Then, after completing all the steps, they must select the ‘Lock Profile’ option.

After confirming the lock, they can view the ‘Acknowledgment Page’. A copy of the’ Acknowledgment Page’ has to, also, be submitted to the Deputy Director, NIELIT, New Delhi.

The next step is to access the Online Examination Application Form and enter the required info. They have to pay the Registration Fee as well. The aspirants can pay via acceptable modes of payment such as Online Banking and Debit/Credit cards.

Besides, they must select the checkbox that appears on the Declaration Page. Then, after reviewing their application, they must click on the ‘Final Submit’ tab.

The registration is valid for a period of 5 years and they can reappear for the exam (during January and/or July) within the given time frame.

A few months after registering, the candidates will receive notifications about registering for the ‘O’ level exam. To apply for the ‘O’ level course exam, they should fill out the exam form.

 

NIELIT ‘O’ Level Course: Syllabus

In addition to two semesters, the NIELIT ‘O’ level program involves project work as well. After the 2nd semester, the students are engaged in project work. As part of the project, the students must complete 15-20 programs under C-programming.

Even though no marks are allotted for projects, the pupils have to complete the project successfully.

After completing the project, the head of the Institute submits a project completion certificate in the stipulated format to NIELIT. Then, the body issues pass certificates to the students who clear all exam papers and complete the given projects.

NIELIT ‘O’ Level Course: Examination

1)    Theory Exam

The ‘O’ Level examination is conducted twice a year (during the months of January and July) by NIELIT. The program consists of 4 papers and each paper is divided into 2 parts.
Part I of each paper contains 40 questions that carry 1 mark each, taking the total of this section to 40 marks. The duration of this section is 1 hour, and to pass this section, the student has to score 20 marks.

Part 2 of each paper has 60 questions, carrying 1 mark each. Thus, this section totals to 60 marks. The pupils have to complete this section within 2 hours. Also, they have to score at least 30 marks to pass this section.

Overall, each question paper totals 100 marks and the duration of the exam is 3 hours.

Across India, there are several exam centres. The entire list of exam centres can be checked by the aspirants when collecting the exam form. Thereafter, the pupils can choose exam centres at their convenience.

2)   Practical Exam

The NIELIT ‘O’ level course has one practical paper. The students who are appearing for, or have appeared for, the theory papers are allowed to sit for the practical exam. The practical exam has a duration of 3 hours.

When filling the exam form and paying the applicable fee, the students have to provide the option for appearing for the practical exam. The NIELIT, Delhi, supervises the practical examination at the Institute.

NIELIT ‘O’ Level Course: Admit Card

The students who are appearing for the ‘O’ level course examinations are required to carry their Admit Cards to the exam hall. They can download their Admit Cards via the official website and after signing in to their respective accounts.

They must visit the ‘Dashboard’ where all the latest notifications are posted. Then, they should search for the ‘Download Admit Card’ option and click on the given link. Then, after entering some basic details, they can access their Admit Cards. After they download their Admit Cards, they must take a print copy. Also, at the exam hall, they must give their Admit Cards to the examiners to verify their identity.

NIELIT ‘O’ Level Course: Exam Result

To check their ‘O’ level course exam results, the pupils can visit the official website or visit the Institute. The authorities post the results on the site after 2 months after the exam date. The students can browse the website, and download their results after the authorities upload the on the website. Also, the results are posted to the candidates individually.

The students who score a minimum of 50% score in theory papers and practical exams separately are declared to pass. After the results are declared, the qualifying pupils have to apply for a Provisional Certificate.

To check their NIELIT exam results online, they should visit the official website, https://student.nielit.gov.in. Here, they have to click on the ‘View Result’ option and select the ‘O’ Level tab that comes under the heading ‘Information Technology’. Then, they should click on the ‘Submit’ option.

Thereafter, the system prompts for some basic details such as date of birth, roll number, and exam name, among others. The users should enter the required information and, then, click on the ‘View’ option. The results appear on the screen thereafter and they can take a print copy of the same for their records.

NIELIT ‘O’ Level Course: Grading System

The authorities provide results to the students in the form of grades. The marks that students score in the practical examination are not considered to calculate the overall grade of the candidate. However, clearing the practical exam is a prerequisite for receiving the pass certificate.

After one month from when the results are announced, the candidates can apply for re-totaling of marks. For the same, they can send their applications to the Examination Section, NIELIT, New Delhi.
Also, if the student is not happy with their results, they can apply to appear for the exam again.

The gradation system of NIELIT courses is as follows:

‘F’ grade (Failed): less than 50%

‘D’ grade: between 50%-54%

‘C’ grade: between 55%-64%

‘B’ grade: between 65%-74%

‘A’ grade: between 75%-84%

‘S’ grade: 85% and above

NIELIT ‘O’ Level Course: Job Opportunities

The students can avail an array of employment opportunities after completing the NIELIT ‘O’ Level course. These include Teaching assistants, IT Lab assistants, Junior Programmers, EDP assistants, Lab demonstrators, Web designers, and Computer operators, among others.
