by In India’s West Bengal state, the West Bengal State Council of Technical Education (WBSCTE) organizes the JEXPO exam, every year. The JEXPO is a state-level Polytechnic exam. Upon successfully clearing the examination, the aspirants can get admissions in the various diploma programs that the state’s Polytechnic institutions offer. The applicants have choices in disciplines such as architecture, technology, and engineering.
Through the Polytechnic courses, the candidates get diplomas upon successful course completion. Also, they develop the required skills that make them employable. In turn, they can work in industries and earn their living. Besides, the skilled labor gap in industries gets bridged as well.
JEXPO Application Form
Both in online and offline mode, the aspiring candidates can apply for the JEXPO exam. If applying in offline mode, they have to collect the OMR application form from the stipulated centers. After filling in the required fields, the candidates have to submit the forms at the centers only.
For submitting online applications, they have to visit WBSCTE’s official website, www.wbscte.org. Firstly, they have to register on the site and give some basic details. As part of the application process, they are to upload their documents, as well. The documents are inclusive of scanned copies of signature and photograph. Thereafter, they should click on the ‘Submit’ link to complete the application procedure.
Application numbers are given to the candidates after submissions. Moreover, they should take copies of their application forms for reference purposes.
JEXPO Eligibility Criteria
The various eligibility norms of the JEXPO exam are studied below.
- Only Indian citizens can apply.
- There is no upper age limit specified.
- The aspirants have to clear their 10th standard examinations from recognized educational Boards.
- Their aggregate marks in the Board exams have to be minimum 35%.
- The aspiring candidates who are appearing for or awaiting the 10th standard results are also eligible.
- The candidate should have West Bengal state domicile certificate.
JEXPO Exam Pattern
The candidates are to give the JEXPO exam in offline mode, via pen and paper. There are 2 papers that include Paper I and Paper II. In Paper I, the questions are based on Mathematics (100 questions); for Paper II, the subjects are Physics and Chemistry (50 questions each). Both Paper I and Paper II are for 2 hours each.
The candidates have 100 objective-type, multiple-choice questions in both Paper I and Paper II. Each correct answer helps the candidate to score 1 mark. There is no system of negative marks in JEXPO.
The candidates can score maximum 200 marks in JEXPO.
The JEXPO follows the syllabus of the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE). The subjects covered are Physical Science and Mathematics.
JEXPO Admit Card
After submission of applications, the WBSCTE releases the admit cards of the eligible candidates in April. The admit cards are downloadable from the official website after entering the application number. Note that admit cards will not be available in offline mode.
On the site, after entering the required details, the system displays the respective cards of the applicants. In turn, they are to download the cards and take printed copies. The admit cards are verified by the examining authorities in the exam hall, thus the candidates are to carry them along when appearing for the JEXPO. Also, in the counseling and other rounds, the admit cards are needed.
JEXPO Result
In May/June, the authorities declare the results of the JEXPO. The applicants are to download their respective exam results from the official website. To download their results, they have to click on the ‘JEXPO Result’ link and enter details such as roll number and password. Thereafter, the results are viewable on the screen. The candidates have to take copies of the exam results.
The examining authorities will prepare a merit list on the basis of the candidates’ scores in the exam.
JEXPO Counseling
The successful candidates have to appear for the counseling rounds after the declaration of results. Only then, they get admissions in their choice of colleges.
Depending on the candidate’s rank in the merit list, they are called for counseling. In these sessions, the candidates are to fill in their choices of colleges and courses. However, they are to register for the rounds beforehand.
During June, the counseling sessions ensue. At first, there are the online counseling rounds for seat allotment. Only the candidates should have access to the Internet to partake in the counseling rounds. Also, they must give several choices for increasing their chances of getting preferred seats.
During counseling, the authorities validate the original certificates of the candidates, as well. If they suspect any discrepancies, the applicant could face disqualification. For this reason, the aspirants must give correct and verifiable information to secure a seat in their preferred college.
The final step requires the candidate to visit the College where he has secured admission, carrying all their educational certificates. They have to tender the course fees at the allotted centers, after which they are admitted.
