The University Of Mysore (UOM), established on 1916, is among the foremost institutions of its kind, and is an enduring symbol in the sphere of higher education in India. It was founded by the then Maharaja of Mysore. Started with just two faculties, namely Arts and Science offering BA, BSc, BCom and BT courses, the University added Engineering faculty, MA programs, MSc program and the faculty of Medicine over the course of its successful progression in the field of education, thus laying a firm foundation for the multi-faculty character of the university.

After assessing UOM’s overall performance, the University of Mysore was first accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with Five Star status in the year 2000. It has been reaccredited A+ in 2006 at A+ level by NACC and again A grade in 2013. Currently the University of Mysore is ranked as one of the top 20 Universities in Scientific and Research activities. University of Mysore (UOM) invites applications online, through its online admissions portal from eligible candidates for various Post Graduate (P.G), Under Graduate (U.G), Post Graduate Diploma, Diploma and Certificate programmes in various fields Arts, Commerce, Law, Education, Engineering, and Science etc. The Mysore University will select students through a written test. From this year onwards, UOM will centrally process PG admissions for PG programs through this online portal.

Entrance Examination is Compulsory for all postgraduate degree courses for all candidates except foreign nationals with foreign degree. Candidates have to apply and appear for entrance exam separately for separate courses, except M.B.A., M.C.A. M.Tech (CCT) and M.Tech (CST) for which candidates have to contact Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA).
