King George’s Medical University (KGMU), Lucknow

Founded in the year 1905, the King George’s Medical University (KGMU) is traced to Lucknow in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. The KGMU was earlier referred to as the ‘Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj Medical University’. This renowned medical institution has been accredited by the Medical Council of India and the University Grants Commission. At the KGMU, aspiring candidates can submit their applications for a range of Medical, Nursing, and Paramedical courses. The College offers an array of undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral courses in the field of Nursing, Health Sciences, and Medicine.

The KGMU houses two faculties: the Faculty of Medical Science and the Faculty of Dental Science.

In the 2019 NIRF rankings, the KGMU was graded 10th rank under the best medical colleges in India.

Additionally, the KGMU has signed various MOUs with reputed national and international universities for upgrading the learning, research, and development facilities.  

Courses

Among the medical courses that the KGMU specializes in are MBBS, BDS, BSc in Nursing, MSc in Nursing, MDS, MS, MD, Master in Hospital Administration, and MS General Surgery. More so, the College conducts a host of diploma courses in various specializations.

Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility norms of the 5.5-year MBBS course that the KGMU holds require the candidates to pass the Class XII exam with a minimum score of 60% aggregate marks. Plus, the qualifying subjects are Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English.

Additionally, the aspirants have to appear for the NEET-UG exam which the NTA convenes.

The KGMU authorities accept online and offline applications for the different courses. 

The candidates, to apply online, should visit the official website and download the application form. Plus, they should upload the mandatory documents and remit the application fee.

Amenities

Spanning 24 acres of land, the KGMU campus has been developed with a host of amenities. Among the various facilities that the College offers is a well-equipped library, healthcare aid, cafeteria, computer laboratories, among others. Furthermore, the College has separate hostels for boys and girls.

Plus, the KGMU offers scholarships to children who hail from impoverished backgrounds.
