HP PAT 2024 Exam: Admission, Dates, Merit List, Eligibility

In India’s Northern state of Himachal Pradesh, the Himachal Pradesh Takniki Shiksha Board (HPTSB) governs matters relating to technical education in the state. The Board conducts the state-level entrance examination that is the HP PAT for the admission of candidates into the government-owned and privately-managed polytechnic institutes in the state. The candidates have to apply online for the entrance exam and via the official website. However, they must first read the eligibility criteria to check if they are eligible. Accordingly, they should apply only if they satisfy the eligibility norms. Thereafter, the eligible candidates have to clear the entrance exam. Then, based on the marks of the applicants in the entrance exam, the authorities conduct the counseling sessions and allot seats in the various Polytechnic institutions.

HP PAT Eligibility Criteria

Qualification:

For Engineering and Other Courses

Qualifying Examination and Scores: Has to clear the 10th standard examination from a recognized Board/University, having minimum 35% aggregate

marks. If appearing for the qualifying exam, then the aspirant is considered on a provisional basis.

For Pharmacy Courses

Qualifying Examination and Scores: Should pass 10+2 exam, or intermediate exam, while scoring minimum 35% aggregate marks. More so, they must have subjects such as English, Science, and Mathematics.

HP PAT Application Form

In April, the aspirants gain access to the online application form on the official website, after the authorities upload the same. On visiting the site, the applicant should first register and share details – such as registered email address and mobile number. Thereafter, they receive their login credentials, after which they should sign in to their accounts for downloading the application form.

The next step is to the fill the application form, followed by uploading scanned copies of their photograph and signature as specified. As part of the application process, the applicants should pay the application fee through online or offline mode as well.

HP PAT Exam Pattern

The HP PAT question paper is for 3 hours and conducted in offline mode. Using black or blue pen, the candidates have to answer the questions in OMR sheets. There are a total of 150 questions that are objective-type ones. They score 4 marks for every correct answer and lose 1 mark for the wrong ones.

HP PAT Syllabus

The HP PAT syllabus conforms to the Matriculation (Class X) one. The HPBSE prescribes the syllabus. A total of 150 questions are distributed subject-wise: English (20), Physics (50), Chemistry (30), Mathematics (50).

HP PAT Admit Card

In May, after the authorities upload the candidates’ admit cards on the official website, the candidates can download the same. They must sign into their accounts for viewing and downloading the admit card. The admit card is an important document for verifying the candidate’s identity. The admit card contains information such as the candidate’s name and roll number, as well as exam date and venue.

The applicant should have the admit card at the exam hall, and furnish the same when requested by the authorities.

HP PAT Result

The candidates can check their exam results in the month of June. The exam results are available in the form of Merit List that contains the scores of the applicants in the entrance examination. Upon visiting the official website, they can access the Merit List to check their ranks that are determined as per their scores. The candidate must take a printout of their respective exam result.

HP PAT Counseling

On the basis of the candidates’ ranks, the authorities prepare the Merit List. Subsequently, they call the applicants for counseling. On the official website, the list of selected candidates is posted.

After declaring the results, the Central Admission Selection Committee holds the counseling sessions for admissions in the Polytechnic programs. As part of counseling, there is verification of the candidate’s original documents. Further, they have to enter choices of colleges and institutes, in order of their preferences. Also, there is allotment of seats that is conducted on merit basis and after considering the availability of seats.

The applicants who meet the requirements during counselling are offered admission to the Polytechnic institutes.
