The Expert Computer Course (ECC) is held by the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT). The NIELIT was previously referred to as the Department of Electronics and Accreditation of Computer Courses (DOEACC). The DOEACC was started in the year 1990 and as part of a joint partnership between DIT and AICTE. The NIELIT official website is https://student.nielit.gov.in/.

The NIELIT conducts the ECC course to equip individuals with the requisite skills and knowledge while they are making their foray into the professional world. The ECC provides learning on Computer Hardware & Software, Office Automation, Internet Applications, and Personality & Skill Development. Also, the program consists of a module on financial literacy to broaden the individual’s understanding of the financial services industry and the different government-based schemes. The course duration is 200 hours.

The candidate is required to pass the 12th standard exams from a recognized board to be eligible to apply for the NIELIT ECC.

To apply for the ECC, the candidates have to register online, create their profile, and submit online applications. They must follow the below-listed steps.

• Go to the official website and select the ‘Apply’ Online’ link
• Under IT Literacy Program, select ‘ECC’
• Study the instructions that are given in the Online Registration Form
• Furnish the required details in the form
• Proceed by submitting scanned copies of the following documents: left-thumb impression, signature specimen, and a photograph
• Click on the ‘Submit’ option
• The system generates a Unique Application Number and the applicants should make note of the same
• Maintain a print copy of the ‘Acknowledgment Page’
• Make a payment of the Application Fee via Cards (debit card/credit card) or Online Banking
• Next, create your profile on the official website
• Visit the official website and click on ‘New User?’ (Registered Candidates)
• Create your profile by filling in the required fields
• Follow by clicking on ‘Lock Profile’
• Select the checkbox on the ‘Declaration Page’.

Expert Computer Course (ECC): Examination

The NIELIT conducts the exam for the ECC and the candidates have to submit their online applications to apply for the test within the given deadline. For submitting their applications, they must visit the official website and log in to their accounts. Thereafter, they should fill out and submit the Exam Form.

Every year, the NIELIT conducts the ECC test several times. However, the candidates have to secure a pass percentage that is 50% to be eligible for receiving certificates.

The NIELIT examiners release the Admit Cards of the candidates some days before the examination date. The applicants are required to access their Admit Cards and maintain a print copy. Also, they have to show their Admit Cards to the authorities at the exam venue. By doing so, the examiners authenticate their identity and allow them to appear for the test.

The Admit Cards should be accessed via the official website. In turn, the candidates have to visit the site and click on the link ‘Download Admit Card’. Then, they are directed to a page where they must select the ECC course under the ‘IT Literacy Programme’ category. Further, they need to enter some basic details such as Application Number and Date of Birth.

Their Admit Cards are viewable on the screen after they submit the required information. Subsequently, they must take a printout. Also, they must check if all the details on the Admit Card are correct. If changes are required, they have to contact the authorities immediately.

The NIELIT authorities notify the candidates when the exam results are declared. Then, the candidates should access their results by browsing the official website. On the home page of the site, they should click on the ‘View Results’ tab and follow by selecting the ECC Course from the ‘IT Literacy’ grouping.

Next, they have to enter the requisite details, following which they can check their results on the system. They should, also, maintain a print copy of their results for reference purposes.

‘F’ grade (Fail): less than 50%

‘D’ grade: ranging between 50%-54%

‘C’ grade: ranging between 55%-64%

‘B’ grade: ranging between 65%-74%

‘A’ grade: ranging between 75%-84%

‘S’ grade: 85% and above

After qualifying for the ECC examination, NIELIT awards certificates to the candidates. The applicants are required to download their certificates from the official website. They have to select the ‘Download Certificate’ tab that appears on the home page.

The next step is to enter the required details on the ‘Application Page’. Through Adobe Reader or Internet Explorer, they can download the certificates. Thereafter, they should validate their certificates by following the steps as seen on the website.
