Sant Gahira Guru Vishwavidyalaya (Sarguja University) is a State University with that of being an Affiliated University. This University was established at Ambikapur, Chattisgarh and was incorporated by Chhattisgarh Vishwavidyalaya Adhiniyam No. 18 of 2008 on September 2, 2008. This University was established so that it takes up the responsibility of imparting higher education in the Sarguja region, especially for the tribal people and the deprived section of the adjoining areas.
Sant Gahira Guru Vishwavidyalaya covers affiliation jurisdiction to administrative/revenue districts in every state of Chattisgarh, it also includes Sarguja, Surajpur, Korea, Jashpur and Balrampur.

Sant Gahira Guru Vishwavidyalaya runs undergraduate and post-graduate programmes of various faculties in subjects of Bachelor of Arts, Science, Commerce and Education. Here, Sant Gahira Guru Vishwavidyalaya also runs one undergraduate programme under the faculty of engineering in its college which is located in Lakhanpur.
