Bihar Polytechnic Admission 2024: Dates, Merit List, Eligibility

In India’s Bihar state, the Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board (BCECEB) oversees the admission process of the state’s various polytechnic courses. The BCECEB conducts the state-level exam that is the Diploma Certificate Entrance Competitive Examination (DCECE), or the Bihar Polytechnic examination, for admitting the eligible candidates. In offline mode, the authorities conduct the exam.

During March, the application forms become available through the Board’s official website, https://bceceboard.bihar.gov.in/.

The aspirants have a choice of both engineering and non-engineering programs that run for 3-4 years. After they successfully complete the courses, they get diploma certificates that are requisites for gaining employment in the respective fields.

The DCECE has 4 papers for admission to 4 different courses, as studied in the following details.

Polytechnic Engineering (PE): For admissions to the diploma engineering courses.

Part-time Polytechnic Engineering (PPE): For admissions into the 4-year, part-time, diploma engineering programs.

Para Medical (PM): For admissions to the intermediate-level para-medical programs.

Para Medical Dental (PMD): For admissions into the matric-level para medical dental courses.

DCECE Eligibility Criteria

Refer to the following details to know more about the eligibility criteria for all the courses. Also, there are other eligibility norms that are common for all the programs.

DCECE Eligibility criteria- PE

Academic qualification: To qualify, the applicant should clear their 10th standard exam or equivalent, recognized by the Bihar Board. If appearing for the Class X examinations of the given year, then the applicant can apply, too. More so, they must score minimum 35% marks in the qualifying exam.

Age Limit: There are no age restrictions to apply.

DCECE Eligibility criteria- PPE

Academic qualification: The eligible candidates are those who have cleared their 10th standard exams, or equivalent ones, and through recognized State/Central Boards. Besides, they should have a 2-year ITI certificate.

Age Limit: Only candidates above the age of 18 years should apply.

DCECE Eligibility criteria – PMD

Academic qualification: The candidate should pass 10th standard or equivalent exams from recognized Boards, having compulsory subjects such as English and Science.

Age Limit: The applicants who are between the age range of 15-30 years can apply.

DCECE Eligibility criteria – PM

The eligibility norms differ as per the varied programs for admission. Thus, the aspirants must study the official notification.

Other Common Eligibility Criteria

There are other eligibility criteria that are common for all four courses, as studied in the following details.

Medical Fitness: The aspiring candidates have to be medically fit.

Domicile: Indian citizenship is a must, along with any of the following.

Parents have to be Bihar’s permanent residents OR

Parents must have Bihar’s refugee status or should be in service with Bihar Government or are employees of India’s Government or work with the United Nations with posting in Bihar.

DCECE Application Form

The applicants are to fill the online application form and follow by submitting the filled form. At first, they have to register on the official website, by furnishing basic details such as registered email address and mobile number. Then, they can log in to their accounts. The next step is to download the application form and fill in the required fields.

In addition to submitting the filled application form, they must upload the mandatory documents, as well. Additionally, scanned copies of photograph and signature are other requisites. Also, the candidates must pay the application fee via online or offline mode.

Following the submission of the documents, the candidate has to take a printout of the application form – this is needed at a later stage.

DCECE Exam Pattern

For better understanding of the exam structure, the candidates are to study the exam pattern. Keep in mind that there are different question papers for the PE, PPE, PM, and PMD courses.

Using pen and paper, the candidates have to give the exam. They receive OMR Answer sheets and have to darken the balls for answering the questions. The applicants have to answer a total of 90 objective-type questions, carrying 5 marks each. For all the courses, the total marks of the question papers are 450. The duration of the exams is 2 hours and 15 minutes.

For PE and PPE courses

The subjects covered are Mathematics and Chemistry and Physics, having 30 questions each.

For PM Courses

The questions are based on subjects of Hindi, English, Arithmetic, and General Science (Zoology, Physics, and Chemistry).

For PMD Courses

The candidates have to answer questions on subjects such as Zoology, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, English, Hindi, and General Knowledge.

DCECE Syllabus

For each course, the exam syllabus varies. However, the exam syllabus is of the 10th standard. The topics include Numerical Ability, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, General Knowledge, English, Hindi, and General Science.

DCECE Admit Card

In May, after the expiry of the given deadline for admission submissions, the authorities upload the admit cards on the official website. The applicants are to download their respective admit cards after logging into their accounts on the site.

Details such as roll number, exam center address, exam date, and exam time are stated on the admit cards. The candidates must check if the information in the admit cards is correct or not. If not, they must consult the authorities to make the required changes.

A printout of the admit card should be taken after downloading the same. At the exam hall, the candidate has to furnish the admit card when asked by the examining authorities.

DCECE Exam Result

In June, the authorities release the exam results on the official site. The applicant has to log in into their accounts to download their results that come as rank cards. The exam results contain details like total score, merit rank, roll number, and qualifying status. After downloading, printouts of the exam results are to be taken.

DECECE Merit List

Coupled with the rank cards, the authorities release the Merit List that contains the candidates’ names and ranks. Upon browsing the official website, the merit list is downloadable. The merit list has significance because the shortlisted candidates are called for counseling and seat allotment on the basis of their ranks.

DCECE Counseling Process

The qualifying candidates are to attend the counseling sessions that are held in online mode. In the following details, the counseling procedure is mentioned.

As part of the online registration process for counseling, the candidates have to fill in details such as course, registration number, security code, date of birth, and name. Thereafter, the system may prompt for additional details that the applicant has to share.

In choice filling, the candidates have to fill in their preferences of colleges and courses. They should give maximum choices, followed by locking the same.

Subsequently, the examining authorizes allot the seats. Depending on the candidates’ choices and categories and ranks, the seat allotments ensue. The information is uploaded on the official websites. Also, the applicants are informed via their registered mobile numbers.

After the seat allotments, the candidates are required to visit the Reporting Centers on the given date and time. Moreover, they have to bring along with original educational documents for the authorities to verify the same. If the candidate fails to appear or gives incorrect information, they are disqualified.

The last step is to pay the application fee at the allotted college or Reporting Center.
