West Bengal TET Eligibility, Application Form, Exam Pattern, Admit Card and Exam Result

The conducting body of the state-level West Bengal Teachers Eligibility Test (WB TET) is the West Bengal Board of Primary Education (WBBPE). The WB TET is held to select aspiring candidates to teach in schools across India’s West Bengal state. The WB TET’s two levels include the Primary Level Teacher positions that range from classes I to V; and the Secondary Level Teacher positions that range from classes VI to VIII. To apply for WB TET Primary Level Teacher posts, the candidates have to appear for Paper-I. And if vying for Upper Primary Level Teacher posts, the applicants have to apply for Paper-II. WB TET: Eligibility Criteria

In the following details, the varied eligibility norms of Paper-I and Paper-II (for general category candidates) are discussed. In the case of reserved classes, the applicants get 5% relaxation of marks.

For Paper-I

The candidate must pass Senior Secondary exams with minimum score of 50% aggregate marks

And

Secure a 2-year Diploma course in Elementary Education or the 4-year Bachelor course in Elementary Education or the Diploma in Education (Special Education) from recognized boards; if appearing for the final year of the aforesaid programs, then they can apply as well.

Also, if the candidate is a graduate with a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education, then they become eligible to apply.

For Paper-II

To be eligible to apply for WB TET Paper-II, the candidate has to complete the 2-year BA/BSc courses, or the 4-year Bachelor program in Elementary Education, or the Diploma in Education program with at least 45% marks, or the BEd program with at least 50% marks. Even if the aspirant is pursuing the final years of the above-mentioned courses, they can apply.

WB TET Application Process

The WB TET aspirants can submit online applications via the official website. However, only eligible candidates must apply. The first step in the application process is to study the instructions on the website and follow the given guidelines. Then, they are required to register on the site by sharing few basic details.

After the registration process, the candidates get their login credentials, after which they can access the Online Application Form by logging in to their accounts.

The application process includes uploading scanned copies of their recent photographs and signature specimen as well. Additionally, they must tender the application fee. Upon completing the formalities, the candidates must review and follow by submitting their applications by clicking on the ‘Submit’ tab. The final step is to take a printout of the Confirmation Page’ for later reference.

WB TET: Admit Card

Admit Cards are mandatory documents that the candidate has to carry when appearing for the exam. The Admit Card contains details such as Applicant’s Roll Number, Date of Birth, Exam Date, and Exam Venue – among others. For accessing their Admit Cards, the candidates have to download the same from the official site.

Upon browsing the website, they must click on the ‘Download Admit Card’ option and, then, enter the required details. The system displays their Admit Cards thereafter. Now, they can download and maintain a print copy that they must carry to the exam hall. Only after checking the candidate’s Admit Card, the examining authorities grant permission to them to give the exam.

WB TET: Exam Pattern

Paper-I and Paper-I have a duration of 90 minutes where the candidates have to answer 150 multiple-choice questions. Each question has four options and upon selecting the right option, the candidate gets 1 mark. Also, for incorrect answers, no marks are deducted.

For WB TET Paper-II, there are five parts; and for WB TET Paper-II, four parts.

The Paper-I sections carry 30 marks each and include Child Development Studies, Environmental Sciences, Mathematics, Language-I, and Language-II.

Paper-II sections are as follows: Child Pedagogy carrying 30 marks; Language-I carrying 30 marks; Language-II carrying 30 marks; and Maths & Science or Social Science for Maths & Science teachers and Social Science teachers, respectively, carrying 60 marks.

WB TET: Exam Result

After the WB TET results are declared, the candidate can visit the official website for downloading their respective ones. They must search for the ‘Download Exam Result’ link and, then, the system prompts for some basic details. After they enter the required information, they can view their results online. The subsequent step is to print their results for their records.
