Dr Yashwant Singh Parmar University of Horticulture & Forestry commonly called Dr. Y. S. Parmar University of Horticulture & Forestry was established on 1st December 1985 at Solan in the Indian State of Himachal Pradesh. This University was named after the one of the most brilliant politician, first Chief Minister and architect of Himachal Pradesh- Late Dr, Yashwant Singh Parmar. This University was established to improve the economy of the State and to encourage education, research and extension education in the fields of Horticulture, Forestry and allied disciplines.
This University regulates its academic activities in its 3 constituent colleges and it offers undergraduate, postgraduate and Ph.D programmes in Horticulture, Forestry and Biotechnology. These faculties provide superior education in subjects like Fruit Science, Floriculture & Landscape Architecture, Entomology, Nematology, Plant Pathology, Agroforestry, Silviculture, Forest Genetic Resources, Medicinal & Aromatic Plants, Wood Science & Technology, Soil Science and many more interesting and important subjects in areas of horticulture and forestry.
