Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University abbreviated as GGSIPU or IP or IPU was established on 28th March 1998 by the Govt. of NCT of Delhi as the state university. In a very short span of time it has established itself as one of the premier universities of the country renowned for its high standard of teaching, research and extension work in emerging areas of higher education with the main focus on professional education.

The university offers higher education in various disciplines like engineering, management, technology, medicine, pharmacy, nursing etc and attracts eminent scholars from all across the country to become its faculty. It is a teaching cum-affiliating university which affiliates 84 colleges in Delhi-NCR and has 15 schools and centres. The medium of instruction in various courses offered by the university is English to meet the international language standards. The university has been graded ‘A’ by NAAC as well which surely increases its credibility. It is also a member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities, Association of Indian Universities, Medical Council of India and Distance Education Council.

Admission to various courses offered by the university is strictly done on the basis of the Common Entrance Test (CET) and the university holds 46 CETs for admission to various programs offered by it. It also holds a CET for its Ph.D. programs as well. It provides hostel facilities to the students from students coming from outside of Delhi/NCR region. At present, it has 4 hostels, Shivalik and Aravali for boys and Nilgiri and Satpura for girls.
