The Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University (PDPU) was set up by the Gujarat Energy Research and Management Institute (GERMI), during the year 2007, at Raisan village (hailed as the Knowledge Corridor) in Gandhinagar city in India’s Gujarat state. The PDPU is recognized as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (SIRO) by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DISR), Ministry of Science and Technology, the Government of India; thus, the University can approach the Ministry for administrative support on scientific research issues and avail exemptions from imports of equipment as well. The PDPU is ranked 55th in the list of India’s premier universities, and 1st in Gujarat, by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) that comes under the Ministry of Human Resource Development of the Government of India. The PDPU houses 4 schools that specialize in Liberal Studies, Technology, Petroleum Technology, and Petroleum Management.
To cater to the skilled manpower resources of industries, the PDPU conducts higher studies at postgraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels; the various disciplines under which the University offers courses are Humanities, Management, Technology, and Science. Through the programs, the students delve into the core subjects, and coupled with leadership training programs, they are able to carve a niche on the global map in their chosen domains.
The PDPU operates from a campus spanning 100 acres of land and in a pollution-free and serene environment. Also, the University boasts of state-of-the-art infrastructural facilities such as sports complexes, library, eateries, hostels, and banks – to list a few.
Besides, as part of the PDPU’s efforts to give international exposure to the pupils, the center has tie-ups with several renowned international universities for promoting Joint Exchange and Research programs.
