by The Global Open University Nagaland: In the year 2016, the Global Open University at Nagaland (TGOUN), India, was founded. The center’s headquarters are located at Wokha; and there are other 2 campuses at Dimapur and Kohima. TGOUN has been instituted by the Government of Nagaland, is a private university, and specializes in open as well as distance education – including the vocational and job-oriented ones. The Global Open University is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC), the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), and the Distance Education Council (DEC).
The educational institution is a unique example of a joint public-private venture between the Government of Nagaland and World Institution Building Programme (WIBP). As part of this University initiative, the state government offers grants-in-aid to the aspirants via payment of their fees while WIBP is the sponsoring body.
The institute offers a host of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in various disciplines such as Social Science, Journalism & Mass Communication, Education, Tourism & Hospitality & Travel, Psychology & Counseling, Health & Medical Sciences, Management & Commerce, Applied Science, Library & Information Science, Law & Juridical Science, and Ecology & Environment – among others.
In addition to the distance education degree programs, TGOUN conducts a series of short-term online certificate courses as well. These programs include online registration, online exams, and online study material.
The University’s facilities include library, guest houses, Wi-Fi connectivity, seminar rooms, auditoriums, canteen, sports complexes, ethnobotanical parks, and computer center – to name a few.
