Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Institute of Physically Handicapped, Delhi

The Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Institute of Physically Handicapped (PDUIPH) was started during the 1950s by the Late Shri Nirankar Swaroop. In the beginning, the Institute was a non-governmental organization that served the rehabilitation needs of the physically disabled groups. Then, during the year 1975, the Institute started operations as the Institute for the Physically Handicapped after the Government of India took over the Jawahar Lal Nehru Institute of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (JLNIPMR) and the organization responsible for managing its affairs that was the Aid of Crippled and Handicapped Council.

The Ministry of Social Welfare took over the previous voluntary organization during the year 1975. Then, in the year 1976, the Institute was converted into a registered society. In the year 2002, the institute was renamed to honor the memory of Pt. Deendayal Upadhyaya and came to be known as PDUIPH. The official website of PDUIPH is www.iphnewdelhi.in.
