The year 1853 marks the establishment of the Washington University, which was headed by Wayman Crow and William Greenleaf Eliot Jr. Having started operations from the year 1854 onwards, the University has now developed into an institution that offers courses in the fields of science and liberal arts. The different campuses are spread over more than 2000 acres of land, with more than 150 buildings.
