Maulana Azad Medical College, Delhi

The Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC) started running academic programs in the field of medical sciences from the year 1959 onwards. MAMC was built to honor the memory of the renowned educationist and patriot, Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad. Also, he served as the first education minister of the country.

Bearing affiliation to the University of Delhi, the MAMC is managed by both the Delhi Government and the State Government. More so, the College has partnership with the Lok Nayak Hospital, which was earlier functioning as Irwin Hospital. Presently, the College has risen to become a symbol of medical excellence. The College offers medical education and training for developing competent medical scientists. Also, applicants can apply for a host of medical programs (at undergraduate, diploma, doctoral, and postgraduate levels) to MAMC.

Moreover, the College is attached to 4 institutes. These include the Guru Nanak Eye Center, Maulana Azad Institute of Dental Sciences, GB Pant Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education, and Lok Nayak Hospital.

Courses
MAMC conducts an array of medical courses at different levels, offering a range of specializations.

Under undergraduate courses, the College offers the 5-year Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery program (MBBS). The applicants have to qualify for the All India Pre-Medical Test (AIPMT) that CBSE conducts to qualify for the undergraduate-level programs.

In postgraduate (PG) courses, the College invites applications for the 3-year Master of Surgery courses and 3-year diploma courses.

The aspirants are required to qualify the All India Postgraduate Medical Entrance Exam (AIPGMEE) that the National Board of Examination conducts for admissions in the PG and PG diploma programs.

Under doctoral degree programs, aspirants can enrol for the 2-year Doctorate of Medicine (MD). To qualify for the doctoral-level courses, the applicants must qualify DUMET that the DU conducts.

Amenities
The campus extends to over 120 acres of land, having a range of amenities for the students’ all-round development. At MAMC, the pupils are offered auditoriums, sports grounds, a library, laboratories, medical aids, hostels, among others.
